One Conversation

Want to know how God can use one conversation to change a life?  Check out this video!  It is real, it is live…and it is about the current national ministry director for Hungary, a man a know pretty well and get to work with!  http://vimeo.com/106977815

The amazing thing?  Jay almost gave up…Laci was the last person he spoke with after 100 rejections that day…and initially he approached Laci because he wanted to know what time it was (they committed to initiate toward people until 4pm…and it was just after 3:30…Jay was hoping it was close enough to 4 to be able to just call it quits).  And God used that one conversation to totally reshape the life of Laci and the Hungarian ministry.

Don’t hold back or get discouraged from sharing your faith…one conversation at the most unlikely, most frustrating time might be the difference maker.

Pictures, Prayer Letter, Excitement!!

Finally the July prayer letter has made it up on the site!  Have I mentioned how chaotic this summer was?  If not, let me tell you it was absolutely crazy!  A whirlwind of activity, watching God move, getting thoroughly exhausted, and being amazed at all God allows me to partake it!  To try to help illustrate that, I have also uploaded some new pictures…all the pictures I ever take can always be found on my Facebook page…but in case you aren’t on Facebook, I try to stick some of the best ones up here too.  Just check out the Photos page and the Prayer Letter page in order to see all the new stuff!

Enjoy!!

Live with Luke July 2014

That’s right!  It has finally hit the public forum!  Pull up a seat and take a glance!  Feel free to share with friends! Included in this video is one of my favorite Hungarian Christian songs.  The lyrics are very rich and I thought I would share a rough direct translation with you.

The trouble with translating songs is that the rhyme scheme never works out, but if it were directly translate this is what it would be:

You are My King:

You are My King,
My heart will only praise You
You are everything in my life.
I am searching for your face,
Show me your heart!
Let me hide in You,
Powerful, Almighty God!
Before your throne,
I will bow and praise You
My heart will praise you unceasingly!
Worthy is the Lamb,
Who shed His blood for me!
Every prayer of mine,
Will only be for your glory.

Re-entry

It seems like we tend to freeze frame so  much of our lives.  My picture of America was stuck in the previous condition I left it in.  Sadly, life doesn’t work that way…things change and they change very rapidly!  In addition, my lenses have expanded and grown.  I don’t see certain things the way I used to and it is easy to get a bit of reverse culture shock going.

Walmart is overwhelmingly massive.  All I wanted was one tube of toothpaste…it was nearly paralyzing to realize that there was an entire aisle devoted to the sale of toothpaste.  Breakfast portions at Cracker Barrell are designed to make certain that you avoid famine…for the next several years.  I think one of the dinner plate sized pancakes was plenty, but 3…and drowned in whip cream and butter!!  Serve up a heart attack on a king sized platter!  Everyone talks to you, even if they have never set eyes on you before.  And while everyone asks how you are, most of them are not really interested in the answer.

Yet, despite that, it has been refreshing to see how many of you have developed a heart for Hungary!  To hear your interest and see the insightful questions you ask is incredibly encouraging!  It is amazing to hear how God has given you a passion for a country that you have, often, never stepped foot in (of course I would love to see that changed!).  Thank you for your prayers, your support, your partnership, and your friendship!
